INTRODUCING THE COUNCIL OF "NON-ESSENTIAL" BUSINESSES
May 11, 2020 - Welcome, folks. This is the first of many posts to come following the formation of The Council of "Non-Essential" Businesses, LLC. We are based in Connecticut, so our initial focus is Connecticut. If such a thing were possible, other states will likely be fighting the public on re-opening longer than Connecticut. So, we expect to be helping our compatriots there too.
As a membership organization we are seeking as many affected people as possible to lend their voices so that Governer Lamont can get the message that it is both time to open, and time to drop their destructive and retrograde provisions for gradual re-opening.
Let's take one. Heat kills the Covid-19 virus. The technical term is lipid-shelled virus. Just imagine a little ball of soap. Heat would make it melt, destroying its ability to infect. But what do we have? A unilateral "council regulation" requiring hair salons to not use hair dryers. There is no other way to say it. This is truly stupid and ignorant. But this is what you get when you have an advisory council. It does not matter how many scientific "experts" you have on the council. Something gets lost in the translation.
Don't worry. There are many more like that and they will get worse. So, we want to be a voice of reason. We want to get them, and Governor Lamont to see reason, to see logic, and realize that their concerns are irrational and misplaced.
Much is being made of the fact that the early decisions, and the data models used to make policy have turned out to be wrong. Moreover, the incredible variations in outcomes to date among different states and other nations serves as guide for changing what are wrong-headed policies in Connecticut. We have to tell the advisory council, we have to tell the governor, and more than once.
But our MAIN MESSAGE is that you are destroying businesses, you are destroying livelihoods, you are destroying lives. We are telling you to stop. We are telling you to let the people of Connecticut restore their lives and rebuild from the damage you have already created.
So many of the people you are destroying are, to you and your advisory council, "nobodies". They have no real voice in this system. You will learn of a gentleman who is South Korean, and for some 20 years has run a karate school. He has been a pillar of his community by having built character and discipline in young boys and girls. And you are putting him out of business. What does that say about you?
There are so many more like him. Immigrants who have poor English skills. People who do not understand the system, involve themselves very little in politics, yet become victims of your politics. STOP.
As of this day, there are more organizations besides our own also being created for the same purposes. We want our lives, our freedoms, our constitutional rights back, immediately.
If anyone wants to add their voice, write their feelings, send their message, I am functioning as the editor/publisher. Please do contact me.

Lamont is taking a sledge hammer to people's livelihoods in this state. Not state workers - they are "protected" and continue to get paid. If you're in the private sector, own a small business or work in one you are being incinerated. Are wee getting state tax holiday for every week we've been deprived of earning a living?? This Virus is not overwhelming the healthcare system - and that was the only justification for the lock-up. Free us now!
